Way back in the early 70’s Ferocious Ambush was the bass player for Country Thunder, a touring southern rock/progressive country band. He was given the name by the lead guitar player of the three piece group. They played six nights a week and toured all the way to the Canadian Border. In early 1978 Ferocious Ambush was forced to leave the band to pursue an “honest living”.

Around 1980 Ferocious Ambush resurfaced as part of the Ferocious Ambush Chili Cookers. Sponsored by Lone Star Beer, the team traveled all over North Texas participating in Chili Cook-off’s. Not only did they produce an occasional excellent bowl of red, they were a top notch show team. With extraordinary guitar playing, loud singing, and very creative dancing they became the number one show team at nearly all cook-off’s. The team was invited twice to the international cook-off in Terlingua, Texas. The team broke up in 1984 when, once again, Ferocious Ambush himself had to go away for professional tie wearing pursuits in a far away land called New Mexico.

Now after a 24 year hiatus, the food-cooking, fun-having tradition of the Ferocious Ambush Chili Cookers is bringing all of the collected talents to a permanent home for the enjoyment and refreshment of the public.
